The output spindle is set back into the body so the tool reaches its cut without the holder body colliding with the chuck, the tailstock or a sub-spindle. Geometrically it does the same job as a standard 90° holder; the difference is entirely about what it can get past.
This is usually discovered late — the programme is written, the tool is ordered, and it fouls on the first dry run. If the working area is tight, say so at enquiry and we work the clearance out before anything is made.
