What it does

A universal holder lets the output be set through a range of angles rather than fixed at 0° or 90°, so angled holes and features are produced without a dedicated angled head for every angle on the drawing.

The trade is rigidity: an adjustable joint is never as stiff as a fixed head, and the torque rating reflects that. For one or two angled features it is the economical answer; for a feature running in production, a fixed-angle head cuts better and lasts longer.
