The driven spindle points at 90° to the lathe spindle, along the X axis. This is the configuration for cross drilling, cross tapping and slotting on the outside diameter.
Direct drive. The turret drive shaft couples straight into the tool spindle with no intermediate gear train. Fewer moving parts, less backlash and a stiffer path from the turret motor to the cutter — generally the better choice when surface finish and hole position matter.
Gear ratio 1:1 — tool spindle speed equals turret drive speed. The direct relationship makes speeds and feeds straightforward to calculate from the machine's live-tool rating.
Left-hand version. Handedness has to match the turret rotation and the station you intend to use; the opposite hand will index into the wrong quadrant.
M5006 is built for the VDI20 turret interface. Because VDI shank dimensions follow DIN 69880, but turret pocket depth, clamping system and drive coupling still vary between machine builders. M5006 is rated to 6,000 rpm with 10 Nm of torque at a 1:1 drive ratio. The usable figure is whichever is lower: this rating or your machine's live-tool drive rating.
M5006 takes ER16 collets. Collets and nuts are supplied separately; specify the shank diameters you intend to run and Mongtec quotes the collet set with the holder.
