A BMT turret carries two kinds of station. A driven station has a drive coupling and spins the tool. A static station does not — it simply holds a turning tool rigidly while the workpiece turns. Most of the stations on most lathes are static, and most of the cutting on most parts is done from them.
Because there is no gear train and no bearing stack inside, a static holder is the stiffest thing you can bolt to a turret. That is its whole argument: for external turning, boring, grooving and facing, rigidity is what sets surface finish and tool life, and there is nothing to wear out.
OD holders take a square-shank turning tool for outside diameter work — the everyday holder. Double OD holders carry two tools in one station, which buys back a station on a turret that has run out of them. ID holders clamp a round boring bar for internal work, listed by bore diameter D. Face holders present the tool for facing and for axial grooving.
The dimension symbols are the catalogue's own and refer to the drawing printed for each execution: C and K are the body dimensions, G the height to the tool seat, H the shank size the holder accepts (bore diameter D on the ID holders), X the tool centre offset, and A, B, E the mounting pattern to the turret face.
The model number carries the two figures that matter most: on OD and face holders it is G then H (a C7020 is G70, H20), and on ID holders it is H then D (a B6532 is H65, D32). That is a useful cross-check when reading a worn label on a holder already in the crib.
BMT is a standardised turret interface, so the size — BMT40, 45, 55, 65 or 75 — is what has to match, not the machine brand. The Compatible Brands column lists the builders whose machines the catalogue records this size as being supplied for. It is a starting point for identifying your turret, not a guarantee for a specific machine: send Mongtec the machine make, model and turret designation with the RFQ and the fit is confirmed in writing before anything is made.
A quotation mark in the brands column means the same brands as the row above. A dash in a dimension column means the catalogue figure could not be verified; see the note under the tables.

Measure the bolt circle and the coupling diameter on the turret face, or read it off the machine documentation — the number in BMT40, BMT45 and so on is the coupling size in millimetres. If you are unsure, send Mongtec a photograph of the turret face with a rule across it and the machine model; that is usually enough to identify it.
Yes, substantially. A driven holder has a drive coupling, a gear or belt train and bearings between the turret and the tool; a static holder has none of that. Where the operation does not need a rotating tool, the static holder is the better cut.
A station. It carries two turning tools in the space of one, which matters on a 8- or 12-station turret running a part that needs more tools than the turret has positions. The trade is that both tools share one clamping, so a change to either means re-setting both.
No. The list records the builders the catalogue notes for that size, not an exhaustive compatibility matrix. BMT is a standard interface; what matters is the size and the turret execution. Send the machine make, model and turret designation and Mongtec will confirm.
They are figures the catalogue prints that we could not stand behind — each one either contradicts the model number or contradicts every other row in its size group. Rather than publish a number that might be wrong, the cell shows a dash and is confirmed in writing at RFQ.
