Why these are listed by machine, not by interface

A BMT holder is ordered by turret size. A tool block is not. The block bolts to a turret face whose bolt pattern, key position and height are set by one builder for one machine family, so the ordering unit is the machine model — PUMA300, NEX-108, QUICK TURN 250L — not a size code. Two blocks that look identical in the photograph will not swap between machines.

That is also why these pages list the machine models the catalogue prints against each block. If your model is not on the list it does not mean nothing fits; it means the catalogue does not print it and Mongtec has to check the turret drawing.

The four types

Round tool block — clamps a round boring bar by its shank, listed by bore diameter. The everyday internal-work block.

Round tool block with middle coolant — the same, with coolant routed through the middle of the block to the bar. Use it where the bar has internal coolant and the turret supplies pressure.

Round tool block with back coolant — coolant fed from the back face instead. Which of the two you need is set by where the port sits on your turret, not by preference.

Rectangle tool block — a square-shank seat for a turning tool, listed by slot size. Outer diameter boring holder is the deep-reach variant on the machines that list one.

How do I know which block fits my lathe?

Start from the machine model, then the turret face. The block has to match the bolt pattern, the key and the centre height. Find your model on one of the five pages; if it is not there, send a photograph of the turret face with the model plate.

What is the difference between middle coolant and back coolant?

Only where the coolant enters the block. Middle coolant takes it through the body to the bar; back coolant feeds from the rear face. Your turret decides which one you can use.

Can I use a block from a different machine if the dimensions look close?

No. Close is not the same as matching, and a block that does not seat properly on the turret face loses the rigidity you bought it for.

Are the overall dimensions the ordering specification?

No. The dimensions on these pages are what the catalogue prints, for identification and comparison. The ordering specification is the machine model plus the turret drawing.
