A center is a part nobody thinks about until it fails, and then it costs a whole shift. Mongtec builds the full range on Morse tapers MT2 to MT6, with a triplex bearing stack and a seal specifically made to keep coolant out — because coolant in the bearing is what kills a center long before the point wears.
| Morse taper | Max load | Max speed |
|---|---|---|
| MT2 | 500 kg | 5,000 rpm |
| MT3 | 500 kg | 5,000 rpm |
| MT4 | 800 kg | 3,800 rpm |
| MT5 | 1,500 – 2,000 kg | 3,000 rpm |
| MT6 | 2,500 – 3,500 kg | 2,800 rpm |
| Runout, live center | Max 0.003 mm |
|---|---|
| Runout, dead center | Max 0.002 mm |
| Shaft hardness | HRC 58–62 |
| Carbide point hardness | HRA 90–91 |
| Bearings | Triplex bearing structure |
| Sealing | Special oil seal against coolant and debris; contactless seal on some models |
| Two-level angular point | Reduces interference between the tool and the center |
|---|---|
| Three-level angular point | Less interference again, for tight tool clearance |
| Nut type | The point is replaceable — change the point, not the whole center |
| Carbide point | HRA 90–91 for abrasive or long-run work |
| Hardened steel point | HRC 58–62 general purpose |
Pipe centers carry tube and pipe on the outside diameter rather than a center hole, with an 80 degree point and a nut for adjusting head accuracy.
