HSK-A tool holders

550 article numbers on the HSK-A taper to DIN 69893, in four families — collet chucks, end mill holders, face mill holders and adapters. Every dimension on these pages is the one the catalogue prints. Mongtec Precision is a Taiwanese brand, designed and engineered in Taichung, Taiwan.

Why HSK-A

A steep taper such as BT locates on the taper alone. HSK is a hollow short taper that pulls up against the spindle face as well, so the holder is located twice — radially by the taper, axially by the face. At speed the spindle bore expands and a steep taper loses contact; the face contact does not. That is why HSK is the interface on high-speed and heavy-face-milling spindles, and why an HSK-A holder costs more than the BT equivalent.

The A form is the general-purpose one: driven, with drive slots, coolant through the centre, for machining centres. E and F forms are lighter and unsymmetrical-free for very high speed; T is for turning centres.

Frequently asked

Is HSK-A interchangeable between machine builders?

Yes — unlike BMT, HSK is standardised in DIN 69893, so an HSK63A holder fits any HSK63A spindle. What varies is the drawbar and clamping unit inside the spindle, not the holder interface.

Can I use an HSK-A holder in an HSK-E spindle?

No. A and E are different forms. A has drive slots and a different flange geometry; E has none and is built for higher speed. Match the letter as well as the number.

Do you publish dimensioned drawings?

The dimensions printed in the catalogue are on the four pages above. The full dimensioned drawing is supplied by email once an enquiry is open, so it matches your actual spindle and drawbar.

Why is a cell blank on some rows?

Because the catalogue does not print that dimension for that article number, or prints it in a way we could not reconcile against the rest of the table. Rather than guess, the cell is left blank and marked to confirm at RFQ.
